Cosmetic Teeth Whitening

Its easier than ever to achieve a healthy-looking, whiter smile, using modern teeth whitening treatments and we know you want a solution that is safe, effective and affordable.

How Does Teeth Whitening Work?

Teeth Whitening

Cosmetic teeth whitening is a procedure designed to whiten your teeth.  This is done by bleaching the stains on the surface of the enamel caused by diet and lifestyle.  Its is also known as laser teeth whitening.  Teeth whitening is safe, gentle and effective when you have the treatment done by a trained professional with the right tools, equipment and knowledge.

During the procedure, a bleaching gel is applied to your teeth, this is a hydrogen peroxide, designed for purpose, of either a 6% or higher concentration level.  An accelerator lamp is then directed onto your teeth, which activate the gel.  This activation achieves maximum results in one consultation, which consists of 3 x 20min sessions.  This see's a lightening result of 5 to 15 shades lighter.  An at home teeth whitening kit would take weeks to achieve similar results.

After your first visit, your teeth will be noticeably whiter and brighter.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Does it Take?
Allow an hour and a half for the whole process.  This includes your initial consultation, completion of paperwork and 3 x 20min teeth whitening sessions.

What results can be expected?
This depends on the individual and the extent of discoloration, but generally anywhere from 5 to 15 shades lighter can be achieved.  The more stained our teeth the more dramatic the result will be.  The results are also relevant to how regularly you have teeth whitening procedures or use a home teeth whitening kit.

Can I choose what shade I want my teeth?
While most clients are thrilled with the results, some do have unrealistic expectations due to filtered results on social media or ads on television.  Teeth whitening will not always be able to produce paper white teeth, this is normally achieved through vaneers or composite bonding.  If you do not achieve the shade of white you are after on the first visit, it may be recommended that a number of treatments be undertaken over time.

How long will the treatment last?
Teeth will maintain their fresh new appearance for as long as it takes to re-stain your teeth, this will vary for each individual.
To keep your smile looking great, we recommend  a maintenance treatment every 3 to 4 months.
Re-staining depends largely on the individuals diet and lifestyle.

Is Teeth Whitening suitable for everyone?
Teeth whitening is a treatment most people want and can have, however, it is not recommended for children under 16 years of age, or for woman who are pregnant or breastfeeding.  Do not have a teeth whitening treatment if you have gum disease or are requiring dental work.  People with false teeth, bridges, vaneers and the like will be unable to get teeth whitening done, as the gel does not work on these dental processes.

Is Teeth Whitening Safe?
We offer the latest whitening gel approved for use in Australia.  Teeth whitening is purely cosmetic and non-dental.  Our gel is gentle and safe.

AFTERCARE

If you want to keep your smile shining bright and white, here are a few guidelines to follow after whitening your teeth.

AVOID DRINKING COLOURED BEVERAGES
After your teeth whitening treatment, avoid strongly colored beverages such as:

  • Red wine

  • Coffee

  • Tea

  • Beer

  • Fruit juices

  • Sodas

These drinks tend to stain teeth due to their vibrant or artificial colors.  If you feel like you can't miss out on your morning coffee or a glass of wine at happy hour, consider drinking through a straw.  The straw helps keep liquids away from your teeth, so your smile should remain whiter for longer.

Avoid Drinking these

DON'T EAT FOODS THAT STAIN
Similar to avoiding certain beverages there are a wide range of foods to steer clear of after whitening your teeth.
Foods that are acidic, greasy, and/or colored, damage your enamel and contribute to staining.

Here are some common foods to avoid after whitening your teeth, along with examples of each:

  • Dark-colored sauces (red sauce, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, barbecue sauce, black sauce etc.)

  • Colorful spices (curry, paprika, turmeric etc.)

  • Red meat

  • Citrus and other acidic fruits (lemons, oranges, limes, mangoes, kiwis, plums etc.)

  • Highly pigmented berries (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries etc.)

  • Colorful vegetables (tomatoes, carrots, spinach, pumpkin etc.)

  • Milk and dark chocolate

  • Naturally and artificially colored candy (Skittles, M&Ms, Smarties etc.)

A good rule of thumb, if it can stain a shirt, it can also stain your teeth.
By avoiding these foods you can ensure your teeth will remain white for much longer.

DON'T SMOKE OR VAPE

In addition to being harmful for your health in general, the use of these products is one of the fastest ways to stain or re-stain your teeth.

People who smoke or vape will likely find that they have to constantly touch up their teeth to maintain a white smile.

Especially compared to those who do not smoke or vape.

It is recommended to quit smoking and or vaping, not only for health reasons but to keep your pearly whites white.

AVOID COLORED PRODUCTS

In the days following your teeth whitening treatment, you will want to avoid colored dental products like toothpaste and mouthwash.  Blue, red, orange and purple colours can re-stain your teeth faster than products that are white or light in color.

You may also find that your teeth are a bit sensitive after whitening, to alleviate this common symptom, try toothpaste and mouthwash that is specifically made for sensitive teeth.

Talk to your dentist about which options are best for you.
